For our trip, we will be travelling by coach, as has been done at previous events. We will be hiring two executive coaches from Johnsons Coaches.
The coaches and their drivers will be key to our trip, providing transport not only to and from Denmark but also for all activities throughout the trip.
For the journeys to and from the UK, we will be using the coaches we have booked. We plan to leave at around midday on Saturday and expect to arrive at a similar time on Sunday. The journey will run overnight, so we will wake up in Denmark on Sunday morning—hopefully making the trip feel shorter with some sleep.
This will be a long journey, but we will have breaks at the required intervals for the drivers, and the coaches will have onboard toilets for additional comfort.
The return journey will follow a similar format to the outbound trip, just in the opposite direction.
Johnsons Coaches provided transport for the previous Witan, so they are familiar with the event and our requirements. They delivered excellent service previously, and we are excited to be working with them again for Witan 2028.
Unfortunately, we are not able to offer a self-transport option for Witan 2028 due to cabotage rules and EU laws that prevent non-EU companies from providing domestic transport within the EU. This means the coaches can only transport passengers who cross the border with them.
As we will be using these coaches as the main form of transport within Denmark, anyone not travelling on them would not be able to take part in the organised transport during the trip.
We are following guidance from the coach company on this matter, as they are providing the transport, which is why this decision has been made.
