What is Witan?

Originally started in 1959 by the predecessors to SSAGO, Witans originally invited Student Scouts and Guides from across the globe to a single host country to gather and exchange culture. In the 1990s, this format of Witan declined in attendees and eventually folded, but in 2012, a new style of Witan was introduced, primarily being an opportunity for UK SSAGO members to take a trip abroad together.

Our theming is Lego based, as Denmark is where Lego was created. We will be doing some Lego-related activities during Witan, including visiting the original Legoland, but you don't need to be a huge fan of Lego to enjoy this trip. There will be a range of activities throughout the week, have a look at our activities page to find out more!

Our planned activities include a trip to Legoland Billund, a historical tour around Ribe, and more traditional adventurous scouting activities. More details about activities will be released closer to the event.

Who is Witan?

You are! (if you book on!) Witan is made by every single person who attends and shapes the Witan experience. We’ll be asking you for your ideas and preferences for activities when bookings open, to help make Witan as awesome as possible.

We are currently a committee of 4, but we are looking for more committee members and helpful people. If you’re interested in getting involved, send us an email at [email protected], and help make Witan, Witan!
